1 Mountainside Way, Mt. Olive, West Virginia 25185 (Fayette County)
Built as a replacement for the Civil War-era West Virginia Penitentiary at Moundsville, Mount Olive Correctional Complex and Jail opened in 1995. The facility is located seven miles east of Montgomery on Cannelton Hollow Road in Fayette County. It is the state's only maximum-security correctional facility and has a current capacity of 1,030 male offenders inmates.
Opened in July 2007, the Slayton Work Camp is a 48-bed minimum-security unit situated on the grounds of Mt. Olive, operating as its own entity outside the secure perimeter and administered by Mt. Olive. Offenders assigned to the Camp hold an appropriate security classification, are non-violent, and are deemed low-risk to the community.
