WVDCR Announces Hiring Event at Stevens Correctional Center and Jail

WELCH, W.Va. — The West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation (WV DCR) today announced that Stevens Correctional Center and Jail (STCC), is holding a hiring event on Wednesday, July 15 to fill key uniform and non-uniform positions. The hiring event will be held at the facility, located at 795 Virginia Avenue Welch, WV 24801 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Following HB 3456, passed by the West Virginia Legislature this year and signed by Governor Patrick Morrisey, Stevens Correctional Center and Jail was officially transferred to WV DCR and is no longer operating as a county-run correctional facility.

Open positions include the following:

• Correctional Officer 1

• Correctional Officer 2

• Correctional Officer 3

• Correctional Counselor 1

• Correctional Counselor 2

To attend, bring a valid Driver’s License, Social Security Card, High School Diploma, birth certificate and college transcripts/DD214, if applicable. Prior to an offer of employment, a drug screening and background check must be passed.

All full-time starting positions within WV DCR receive a benefits package worth approximately $13,700 that includes health, dental, vision and term life insurance; paid holidays, sick and vacation leave; a benefit pension plan and other comprehensive benefits.
